Lincoln standing now at 88… Metacritic sometimes mirrors election results. I didn’t really notice this until the reality was right there in front of my face. But as the critic results start reporting, you get a clearer and clearer picture of the reality. Early on, Lincoln was standing at 78 with the first 4 reviews. This was based upon precincts that were lukewarm, but couldn’t help but at least putting up positive numbers. Yet, when the critics that are the genuine Lincoln supporters start coming in, well, the results speak for themselves.
So, yes, do adjust your readings. Daniel Day-Lewis might now be as inevitable as Lawrence, so that’s about settled. Also, Lincoln enters what I believe is STILL a four way tie for Picture. Or maybe it was always there. But, yes, now you can make some case for giving frontrunner status to Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Les Miserables and Argo. Spielberg even has some chances for another Director win. Screenplay, just rack ’em up. Furthermore, the globes are interesting this year (in addition to a better host selection) since we have basically, almost a playoff round there. Lincoln vs. Argo, Les Miserables vs. Silver Linings Playbook. I don’t wish to count out Life of Pi, but i’m not yet convinced it is quite in the position those other four are yet.
