There are some very interesting names bubbling under the surface for Supporting Actor. I fear someone like Dwight Henry is too far behind at this point, with his screen daughter fighting for her own race at this point. Matthew McConaughey had some interesting showings early in the awarding, but I don’t think he’s gonna quite fit the mold here. Christoph Waltz is just dynamite in Django, but I think his co-star will make the cut. Anyways, sure it’s the general consensus, but i’m going with it. Also, I fear this might be The Master’s only acting nomination. I hope not, but possibly:
Alan Arkin “Argo”
Philip Seymour Hoffman “The Master”
Leonardo Di Caprio “Django Unchained”
Robert De Niro “Silver Linings Playbook”
Tommy Lee Jones “Lincoln”
So far as Original Screenplay, the Writers guild didn’t have Django or Amour eligible. Those could easily replace Looper and Flight, but I think Looper will make it through as a bit of an upset, edging out Amour.
